Visa Tips for Indians Travelling to Australia

With no biometrics, no interviews, no physical submission of documents, 100% online process and ‘faster turnaround time’ for high-quality lodgements, Australia’s visitor visa process is truly best in class.

  • Type of Visa: Choose the correct visa subclass while applying for an Australian Visa. Under subclass 600 Visitor Visa there are 2 categories: Tourist Stream (for holiday & leisure travellers, VFR, short stay less than 3 months) and Business Stream (for MICE travellers, famils, conferences & business meetings). Chefs, Maids, Tour Managers/ Escorts need to apply for subclass 400 (Temporary Work) visa. Artists need to apply for subclass 408. For long term visa for (Indian) parents of Australian citizens or PR holders, use subclass 870.
  • Upload scanned color copies of all documents, incl. passport, previous travel history, provide ample evidence of sufficient funds and incentive to return to India. E-statements are acceptable. No need to notarise any document.
  • Lodge your tourist visa application by creating your own ImmiAccount.
  • For any query or escalation beyond the current visa processing times, please use the Australian Immigration Enquiry Form or Contact the Dept of Home Affairs.
  • Must fill Form 1229 - Consent to grant a visa to a child under the age of 18 years, if the child is travelling with a single parent or unaccompanied parent(s)/ guardian.
  • Australia does not require minimum validity for an Indian passport. The 6-month validity is a requirement of Indian Immigration.
  • Dedicated email ID for corporate incentive (MICE) travel: india.businessvisas@dfat.gov.au. Pls ensure that you provide enough evidence of financial status of each applicant, even if the trip is completely hosted by the corporate. For current account bank statement, attach relevant pages highlighting regular inflow and outflow of funds.
  • Change in personal details including incorrect name or new passport: Fill Form 929 - Change of contact and/or passport details and email the same to 929@homeaffairs.gov.au
  • Notification of incorrect answers: Form 1023 - Notification of incorrect answer(s)
