4D/3N Great Southern Touring Route

Day 1:
Morning
  • Depart Melbourne early (around 7:00 AM) for a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Torquay, the official start of the Great Ocean Road.
  • Stop at Bells Beach, famous for its world-class surf waves and dramatic coastal views.
  • Drive along the picturesque coastline towards Memorial Arch, a great photo stop marking the gateway to the Great Ocean Road
  • If time permits, stop at Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery in Bellbrae for handcrafted chocolates, artisanal treats, and refreshing ice cream.

Afternoon
  • Arrive at Otway Fly Treetop Adventures and immerse yourself in nature with a treetop walk or an exhilarating zipline experience through the lush rainforest.
  • If time permits, take a 12 Apostles Helicopter Flight for a once-in-a-lifetime aerial perspective of the rugged coastline.

Evening
  • Enjoy an overnight stay at Warrnambool/ApolloBay.
Day 2:

Morning
  • Depart from the Great Ocean Road for a 2.5-hour scenic drive towards the Grampians National Park, passing through lush countryside and charming rural towns.

Afternoon
  • Head to MacKenzie Falls, one of Victoria’s most stunning waterfalls. Enjoy an easy walk to the viewing platform, or take the scenic trail down to the base of the falls for a closer look at the cascading waters.
  • If time permits, take a short detour to Boroka Lookout, offering panoramic views over Halls Gap and the surrounding mountain ranges – perfect for photography.

Evening
  • Visit The Balconies (Reed Lookout) to witness the iconic rock formations and a breathtaking sunset over the rugged landscape.
  • Check in to your accommodation in the Grampians, whether it's a cozy cabin, eco-lodge, or a scenic campsite, and unwind under a starlit sky.
Day 3:
Morning
  • Depart from Grampians National Park early for a 2-hour scenic drive to Ballarat, passing through rolling countryside and historic gold-mining towns.
  • Start your day at Ballarat Wildlife Park, where you can get up close with Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and even crocodiles.

Afternoon
  • Head to Sovereign Hill, a living outdoor museum that transports you back to the 1850s gold rush era.

Evening

  • Alternatively, return to Melbourne (a 1.5-hour drive) for a relaxed evening after a full day of adventure.
Day-4:
Morning
  • Depart from Sovereign Hill early and drive 1.5 hours to Melbourne, enjoying scenic views of Victoria’s countryside.
  • Stop for breakfast at a popular Melbourne café.

Afternoon
  • Depart Melbourne and drive 3 hours towards Mount Buller, one of Victoria’s premier alpine destinations.
  • Arrive at Mount Buller and enjoy a half-day adventure, exploring snow sports (in winter) or bushwalking and sightseeing (in summer).

Evening
  • Depart Mount Buller in the late afternoon for a 3-hour drive back to Melbourne Airport, return to your rental car, and check-in for your flight home after an adventurous day.
