Visa Information

Travelers from most countries need a visitor (B-1/B-2) visa to travel to Washington, DC for tourism or transit. Below is a quick snapshot of visa requirements for select countries:

• India: Required
• UK & Ireland: Not required
• Brazil: Required

Travelers who require a visa must:

• Complete the DS-160 application form online
• Pay the $185 USD visa application fee
• Bring all required documents, including a valid passport, photograph, and supporting materials

Travelers from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries do not need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days) but must apply for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) prior to travel.
